Project Description
We Bengalis are very much fond of hot tea. Whether it is a hot summer or a rainy or a bitter cold winter day, We always crave a cup of tea. A small tea shop is a very common scene in our rural areas or at the crossroads of any narrow path.
I have tried to portray the image of such tea shops in this art work. Where, there are various chips, soft drinks, eggs, bananas, etc. covered in colorful wrappers and there are kettles filled with hot tea liqueur and milk pots on the stove. For entertainment, these shops usually have a TV and Tape recorder (although this item is now obsolete). Benches are provided in front of it to sit. This tong ghar or tea shop is the only place for ordinary working people to hang out and these tea houses are all the center of all political discussions of home and abroad, where retired old people drink tea. These dilapidated tea shops will remain as a witness of all times, in the heart of Bengalis for centuries.
