A Healing Space is Claymire’s second international design ideas competition, organized in association with Placemaking Bangladesh. Emerging from a world seeking reconnection and renewal, the competition invited participants to explore how design can become a medium of care—healing individuals, strengthening communities, and restoring balance with nature.
Through three interwoven lenses—People, Community, and Planet—the competition encouraged designers to reimagine the built environment as an active agent of empathy, resilience, and ecological harmony.
The exhibition at Alliance Française de Dhaka showcased top 30 visionary designs from over 1,000 global participants across 400 teams—each exploring how spaces can nurture people, strengthen communities, and restore harmony with the planet. What began as an open design call evolved into a thoughtful dialogue on empathy, resilience, and ecological care through the language of design. The exhibition became a space for reflection and exchange—where ideas met imagination and creativity became a tool for healing.
The evening was graced by a distinguished group of guests and speakers. M. François Chambraud, Director of Alliance Française de Dhaka, emphasized the role of cultural collaboration in shaping shared creative futures. Professor Dr. Khandaker Shabbir Ahmed, Architect, Former President of Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) and Chief Guest of the event, reflected on the transformative potential of architecture to heal communities. Ashok Kormokar, renowned artist, and Ar. Saiful Haque, Aga Khan Award–winning architect, shared their insights on art, design, and the human condition.
We were also honored by the presence of one of our honorable Juror Ar. Saleh Ahmed Anik, Faculty Member, Department of Architecture, North South University, and Prof. Dr. Nurur Rahman Khan, Architect, Academician, Partner of TKNRK, and Dean of the Faculty of Science, Engineering & Technology at Bangladesh University.
An additional highlight of this year's event was a special session that looked back at the accomplishments of Designing the Stall, Claymire's first competition. Golpogari was the recipient of the Best Award for Visionary Artist/Creative Excellence at our most recent show. Futuredesh and Studio Dhaka worked together to create the real-scale display, which demonstrated how creative collaborations can shape a positive future. Studio Dhaka's Architect Kalpopriya Chowdhury, Golgopari's designers Nionta Ahasan and Mahir Shahariar Hussain, and ourselves were privileged to have them speak a little about this remarkable project.
A heartfelt appreciation to Samia Mehnaz Maliha, who hosted the evening with elegance and warmth. This exhibition was a celebration of creativity, dialogue, and the collective pursuit of spaces that heal—an inspiring reminder that design has the power to care, connect, and transform.
At Claymire, we continue to believe that design is more than an aesthetic—it’s an act of empathy, a conversation with people and place, and a bridge toward a more compassionate world.
