Project Description
শান্তির মাচা – Perch of Peace
In the dense fabric of the city, street-level spaces are often overwhelmed by noise, traffic, and congestion, leaving little room for moments of rest or connection. শান্তির মাচা – Perch of Peace envisions a new elevated platform above the neighborhood road — a fresh layer of the city dedicated to healing, interaction, and harmony. We are from traditional uphill vernacular houses where perch or macha is one of the most common features for relaxation for day to day life.
শান্তির মাচা (Perch of Peace) reclaims such a negative space the first-floor level above the roads of a neighborhood and transforms it into a vibrant healing environment. This elevated platform becomes an accessible urban refuge, designed to nurture both humans and urban wildlife.
Healing here emerges from a multisensory experience: soft lighting creates a sense of calm, harmonious sounds soothe the mind, and thoughtfully chosen colors uplift the spirit. The platform also provides spaces for rest, observation, and gentle interaction, fostering connection and mindfulness for both humans and urban wildlife.
The space invites street cats, birds, and other small animals through dedicated feeding and resting zones, integrating compassion for all living beings into the urban design. For people, it offers a safe, accessible gathering space, a place for quiet reflection, friendly conversation, or simply a pause from the rush below.
শান্তির মাচা (Perch of Peace) is more than an overhead structure; it is an example of how overlooked voids in the city can become active agents of well-being. By merging architecture, ecology, and empathy, it transforms absence into presence, neglect into care, and structure into sanctuary, a breathing space in the sky.
