Project Description
On the banks of the Kopotokkho River in Sagardari, birthplace of Michael Madhusudan Dutta, this healing space translates the poet’s life into three spatial stages — childhood, lostness, and return.
The Childhood Court recalls the warmth of his early years in his motherland. Native trees, earthen textures, and open spaces invite play, gathering, and the sharing of stories, echoing the comfort of home.
The Lost Passage to Searching reflects his departure to foreign lands — a time of both disconnection and discovery. Narrow winding paths, filtered light, and reflective water evoke the uncertainty of being away. Yet glimpses of framed views, poetic inscriptions, and shifting perspectives symbolize the inspiration and new vision he found in this period of change.
The Legacy Platform celebrates his return and lasting contributions to Bengali literature. River-facing terraces, tree shaded seating, and engraved poetry stones create a setting for community readings, cultural events, and quiet reflection.
Ecologically, the design restores riverside greenery and uses natural, low-impact materials, keeping harmony with the river’s flow. Socially, it offers a shared cultural space; personally, it provides moments for stillness and inspiration .This space is both a tribute to a poet’s journey and a living meeting point between people, memory, and nature.
