Project Description
The perception of a healing space varies from person to person. Some might find it in the corner of their own room, while others may discover it on a seashore. But from a community perspective, a healing space is a place where people go for recreation and relaxation. It should be a place of fun, well-being, and social connection. With this in mind, the chosen location is one where community members gather. This site has been unused for a long time despite being surrounded by the neighborhood.
Analyzing the community, we see that many people from all age groups—especially children, women, and the elderly—visit the area near the site, where a small park and playground are located—though it offers little real opportunity for healing. People are often seen wandering along the roads in the afternoons. The park has a small play zone that is inadequate for the number of children. The unspoken need for a play area, a cozy spot to sit and chat, or a gathering place influences the design. The main design feature is a circular ribbon that holds the proposed functions within its folds. The central space is divided by walkways, creating a play area and an amphitheater. The versatile features will allow groups, individuals, and families to enjoy and find their own ways to relax. The site design fits within a 60-foot radius, which can be scaled by adjusting the radius as needed for other locations.
