Project Description
In the heart of Dhaka’s busy urban fabric, we chose a site that stands as a symbol, a fragment of green in a city that rarely pauses. This location, surrounded by movement and noise, became the canvas for our vision: a sanctuary elevated among the trees.
As children, many of us dreamed of tree-houses: small secret worlds perched above the ground, where life felt simpler and the air somehow cleaner. This fascination became our starting point. We wanted to bring that dream into reality, not as a nostalgic memory, but as a living, breathing space for the community.
Our design embraces the trees as its core. The structures are cylindrical, wrapping gently around trunks without harming them, allowing nature to lead the architecture rather than the other way around. Elevated walkways connect these forms, giving visitors the sensation of moving through a floating landscape. The space serves multiple functions: quiet corners for reflection, open areas for conversation, and playful zones for children, all layered within a green canopy. In this way, it is not just a retreat but a shared ground for healing, conversation, and inner balance.
In the middle of an urban environment built from stone and steel, আত্মবৃক্ষ offers something softer: a sanctuary in the trees where the city fades, the mind slows, and the soul can breathe again.
