Project Description
Where Time Slows imagines the renewal of a busy urban edge once shaped by constant transit movement into a calm and restorative setting for elderly wellbeing. Set beside the Sonadanga Mosque and woven into a larger public park, the space offers a place where nature, community, and personal renewal meet.
The concept is guided by three principles: calmness, accessibility, and engagement. The mosque stands as a cultural and spiritual anchor, while open green fields and shaded meditation areas invite moments of quiet reflection. At the center, a lake forms the heart of the experience. Gentle walkways, decks, and seating along the water’s edge encourage slow movement and unhurried presence.
Opportunities for active ageing are thoughtfully integrated. An open gym, a bicycle track, and a welcoming plaza for social gatherings are placed to support activity without disturbing the atmosphere of peace. The journey through the site moves from intimate spaces for prayer and meditation, to shared areas for conversation and light exercise, to natural features that support biodiversity and seasonal beauty.
Native planting, shaded canopies, and soft water edges help restore the bond between the elderly and the natural world. More than an escape from the city’s noise, this is a place that welcomes the elderly back into the life of the community, encouraging interaction across generations. It is a living landscape where time slows and life finds its gentle rhythm again.
