Project Description
The chosen negative space for this healing space project is the old Khulna Railway Station, a site that once buzzed with activity but has since fallen into neglect. Its abandonment has created a void, both physically and emotionally, for the surrounding community. This project aims to transform this neglected space into a vibrant healing environment, breathing new life into the station while honoring its historical significance.
The intended healing transformation focuses on revitalizing the site to offer both physical and emotional restoration. The plan incorporates interactive activities like balance beams, rope climbs, and a rope maze to encourage physical movement, while also providing spaces for reflection and relaxation. A book café housed in an old coach offers visitors a quiet retreat, fostering mental rejuvenation through literature and social interaction. The goal is to create a multifunctional space that caters to all aspects of well-being, offering both active and passive experiences.
The key design idea is to blend modern elements with the old station's architecture, preserving its historical essence while adding contemporary features to enhance the user experience. The existing structure will be repaired and transformed into a dynamic space, where nature, physical activities, and social engagement coexist. The design emphasizes accessibility, sustainability, and community connection, providing a place where people can come together, rejuvenate, and rediscover the rich history of Khulna through a renewed perspective.Ultimately, the project seeks to create a space that heals the body, mind, and spirit.
