Project Description
Chosen Negative Space: An abandoned passenger shed along a busy road, once for commuters, now a site of loitering and unsafe activities. Lacking light, maintenance, and sanitation, it has become an urban void — especially unsafe for women.
Healing Transformation with Game-Inspired Process: The design is presented as a game journey to make the idea relatable and interactive:
Level 1: Meet Rini, a job seeker walking under the sun, tired and in need of rest.
Level 2: She finds a neglected shed — unsafe and unusable.
Choice: Walk away or transform it?
Level 3: Transform! — repair, clean, add greenery, facilities, and lighting.
Level 4: The shed is reborn as a safe healing haven with shaded seating, washroom, and privacy zones.
Victory: Rini leaves refreshed, ready for her next challenge.
Key Design Idea: Three integrated zones:
Privacy & Safety — Washroom, changing room, secure layout.
Healing & Comfort — Natural light, shaded seating, plants.
Community Engagement — Open frontage, inclusive seating inspired by tea stalls.
Rejecting hostile architecture, the space invites diverse users, promotes dignity, and demonstrates that even the smallest interventions can heal people and place.
