Project Description
Pranvan - Green Pockets for Healing in Industrial Areas
In the heart of an industrial zone, a neglected lot lies forgotten - polluted, overheated, and stripped of life. This space represents a scar in the spatial fabric, yet it holds the potential for healing and renewal.
Our proposal envisions transforming this site into a Green Forest Pocket: a dense cluster of native, carbon-sequestering trees and air-purifying plants. Simple design elements such as benches under leafy canopies, shaded pathways, and quiet nooks, inviting industrial working community to pause, gather, and reconnect with nature.
This healing space operates on three interconnected levels. Personally, it offers refuge from noise and smog, providing a sanctuary to breathe, rest, and reflect. Communally, it creates a green place in a concrete landscape - a meeting ground that fosters inclusion, play, and shared care. Ecologically, the forest reduces urban heat, improves air quality, and sequesters carbon, generating credits to sustain ongoing care and support local needs.
Central to this vision is community stewardship and partnership, ensuring the space adapts and thrives over time. Success will be measured through increased public use, improved environmental quality, and stories of collective renewal.
More than a planting project, this Forest Pocket restores relationships: between people and nature, past harm and future hope, neglect and resilience. It is a quiet act of care - a breath held and gently released, offering the landscape a chance to heal and breathe again.
