Pranon , Giving Life, Revitalizing
Ratul spotted Mumin walking along the dusty road and called out, “Come with me, I want to show you something.”
Mumin frowned. “Where? That filthy alley behind the buildings? The one that smells like garbage?”
Ratul smiled. “Not anymore. You won’t recognize it.”
“I doubt it,” Mumin muttered, but curiosity pulled him along.
As they stepped inside, Mumin froze. The narrow 16-by-25-foot space had transformed completely. Instead of piles of trash, a light steel grid framed the area. Concrete and wooden seating blended with lush greenery climbing up the mesh walls. A tong shop tucked in one corner filled the air with the warm scent of tea. Across from it, an open-shelf library invited readers to linger. Swings hung from the steel beams, swaying gently as children laughed and played. Above, a mesh floor created a second level, where people sat cross-legged, reading or talking in the shade.
“This… is the same place?” Mumin whispered.
Ratul nodded. “We call it Pranon. It’s ours now. We keep it clean, plant trees, and anyone can come to read or learn.”
Mumin’s eyes lit up. “So we can paint the walls? Draw? Take care of the flowers?”
“Of course. And there are reading workshops for those who can’t read yet. We all help each other.”
Mumin smiled slowly. “Then this isn’t just a place… it’s our home.”
Pranon works as a healing space by turning a neglected, unsafe corner into a community heart where creativity, learning, and care grow side by side.
