Project Description
"Pause in the Setback: healing space for homemakers"
Between the quiet setbacks of two urban buildings, a path unfolds — a healing loop for the women who keep these homes alive. The entrance greets them not with stone or steel, but with the living breath of pudina, tulsi, and lemongrass. These plants are chosen not just for their fragrance and healing qualities, but because their familiar scent mirrors the comfort of home, easing the first steps away from daily burdens.
Immediately after, the Seasonal Memory Wall stands — a living scrapbook of shared moments. Here, each season leaves its mark: monsoon photos, winter recipes, spring flowers pressed into frames. It sits at the start because memory is the first bridge between strangers and friends, allowing women to feel seen before they share space. Beyond it, the Exchange Shelf quietly nurtures generosity. A jar of achar, a novel, a set of bangles — given and taken without obligation. It is placed mid-path to invite pause, exchange, and a sense of shared resource.
The path opens into a The Gathering Loop— a space alive with crochet, pottery, hand-stitching. Skills are shared, stories traded, and laughter woven into the air. Above, a tensile roof stretches like a soft canopy, diffusing daylight, allowing air to flow, and keeping the space usable in rain or heat. Its light, fabric form feels temporary yet sheltering — a gentle metaphor for care that adapts.
The loop bends back to the entrance, carrying each woman home the way she came, but lighter — reminded that even in the tightest spaces, healing can grow.
