Project Description
Just outside the lively streets of Bondor bazar, where shop signs glow and vendors call out to passersby, stands a building people have long ignored. Two stories high, painted black, it doesn’t invite you in. Its walls seem to hold their breath, keeping the world at a distance. For years, it has been nothing more than a shadow at the edge of the city’s movement.
But it wasn’t always like this.
This building was once a printing press — one of Sylhet’s earliest. The smell of fresh ink filled the rooms, and the hum of machines mixed with laughter and conversation. Poets, students, and journalists passed through its doors, their ideas turning into posters, books, and newspapers. It was alive.
Then came unrest. A fire swept through. The machines went silent. One by one, people stopped coming. The building closed its eyes to the world, and the world forgot about it.
Now, we want to open those eyes again!
We will keep the black walls, but inside, fill them with light, color, and voices. A tree café where friends meet and exchange, an art gallery where local talent shines, spaces where young people create and share ideas. It will be a place to gather, to dream, to connect. People will come not just to see a building, but to feel its story — to stand in a place that has known silence and now celebrates life. From the edge of Bondor bazar, it will remind us all: even forgotten places can breathe again.
