Project Description
নীড়-যাত্রা (Neer-jatra): From street corner to sanctuary; no map required
Neer-jatra transforms a recycled double-decker bus into a mobile sanctuary — a traveling pavilion, a green lung, and a pocket of calm for the city. Designed to move, pause, and connect, it brings architecture’s quiet side into the everyday rush. Its vertical façade works as a hinged swing — closed for travel, open as a veranda — while foldable rattan and bamboo seating provides flexible outdoor spaces for rest, reading, or social interaction. A small tea stall on the ground floor allows the manager to earn a modest income while engaging the community.
Inside, the ground floor hosts a plant nursery for learning, gardening, and neighborly exchange. Upstairs, a reading and reflection area offers filtered light and a pause from urban chaos. Powered by a quiet lithium-ion battery, the Sanctuary moves silently from street to street, carrying its atmosphere of calm. It is not a fixed building but a transient architecture — a spatial experience that appears, heals, and moves on.
By merging mobility, ecological responsibility, human connection, and adaptable spaces, Neer-jatra shows that healing spaces don’t have to be sought out — they can arrive at your street corner, ready to be opened, shared, and felt.
