Project Description
Perched above Old Dhaka, where brick facades whisper remnants of empires, Letters for the Sky transforms an abandoned rooftop of Ruplal House into a sanctuary for grief, memory, and release.
Colonial inspired stairwells are reimagined as sculptural pigeon towers, each housing hand-carved nesting alcoves scaled for comfort. Visitors inscribe unspoken words, letters that never seek an answer, and place them in the hollows, where pigeons carry them into the sky.
The rooftop garden and pergolas in historic form, textured and layered with shaded alcoves, guides movement like flowing ink on paper. Wingbeats replace honks, cooing replaces clamor. Light, shadow, and airflow shape the blank canvas of roofs, merging ecological and human rhythms. Letters for the Sky is both monument and living organism, a place where architecture orchestrates release, reflection, and gentle healing; to let go and to exist.
