Project Description
Layers of Return is a therapeutic landscape project set in the historic heart of Pabna, Bangladesh, within the abandoned grounds of the Ramgopalchari Bari. Drawing from its layered history and cultural significance, the design aims to reconnect memory, nature, and self-discovery, with a special focus on engaging the youth. Multi-sensory elements are integrated seasonal flowers for vibrant color, varied textures from paving and planting for tactile engagement, fragrances like jasmine and marigold for olfactory connection, and soundscapes from rustling leaves, bird singing and water features for auditory calm. Surrounding educational institutions make this space particularly relevant for young people, offering them a setting for learning, reflection, and creativity.
The design encourages active participation with nature, fosters cultural awareness, and provides therapeutic benefits, bridging the gap between heritage and contemporary needs. Layers of Return transforms a neglected landmark into a living, breathing space for renewal, rooted in history yet oriented towards a hopeful future.
