Project Description
Nestled along the Korail water’s edge at Matir Rasta, this communal healing space invites reflection through deep engagement with nature, the water, earth, greenery, and sky. Inspired by local context, it transforms a marginal urban edge into a nurturing sanctuary where nature and people heal in tandem.
The intervention is defined by four gently curved earthen walls, crafted from local mud. Their softness echoes the contours of the land and the fluidity of the adjacent waterway. These porous barriers, punctuated with generous inlets and outlets, encourage movement, light, and spontaneous human interaction, much like a therapeutic pavilion amidst green serenity.
Suspended above these, a lightly suspended roof unifies the space, forming a quiet threshold between contemplative refuge and open sky, offering both shelter and a moment of release. Here, reflection and nature intertwine, transforming an overlooked urban margin into a warm, porous sanctuary.Under the roof, visitors find shelter and introspection and to weave cultural tapestry of their own; beyond, the open sky invites expansion, echoing layered healing paths.
At Korail, the rare embrace of water within Dhaka’s urban fabric becomes the anchor of the design. Combined with earth (mud walls), proposed greenery, and open sky, this creates a multi-sensory healing environment. our space unfolds as a sequence from arrival to reflection to release facilitating psychological and emotional restoration
