The intricate, dark fabric of his rickshaw hood—usually vibrant with painted flowers and peacocks—seemed subdued in the early light, almost like a dormant creature waiting to be roused. The world around him was a tapestry of gray shadows and soft focus; the trees above formed a canopy of quiet expectation, and the nearby parked motorcycles sat silent.
