Project Description
The concept is inspired by যন্ত্র মন্তর from Hirak Rajar Deshe, where rhythm, repetition, and movement create a surreal yet deeply emotional atmosphere. Translating this musical experience into architecture, the project explores how space can shape human perception through light, shadow, sound, and procession. Rather than functioning as a conventional building, the proposal acts as an immersive spatial journey that responds to movement and emotion.
Drawing inspiration from the architectural language of ancient Bengal, the space is composed of terracotta textures, weathered brick surfaces, reflective water bodies, rhythmic arches, and layered courtyards. As people move through the environment, shifting perspectives, filtered light, and atmospheric shadows create changing sensory experiences, much like the changing rhythm of music itself. Water becomes a reflective and emotional element, while narrow passages and open voids establish moments of compression and release.
The project aims to create a poetic relationship between music and architecture where rhythm is no longer only heard, but also experienced spatially. Through cinematic atmospheres and human-centered moments, the architecture becomes a place of contemplation, memory, and collective emotion, reconnecting people with the cultural essence and spatial poetry of Bengal.
