Project Description
“সহাবস্থান” embodies the principle of coexistence between humans and roadside animals, particularly cats and dogs. This project responds to the growing vulnerability of stray pets in urban Bangladesh, where limited access to food, water, and shelter exposes them to malnutrition, disease, and accidents. The design is a compact vertical pavilion divided into two zones: the ground level serves dogs, offering easy access and feeding areas, while the upper level is dedicated to cats, with climbing pathways that only they can navigate. A donation box at the base invites the community to contribute dry food and medicine, strengthening the bond between humans and animals. The name “সহাবস্থান” was chosen to reflect harmony, empathy, and shared space, emphasizing that coexistence is possible even in everyday urban life. Through thoughtful design, this shelter addresses the pets’ suffering while fostering compassion and awareness among passersby.
