Project Description
Developed as a tectonic volume that responds to the environmental medium through its form and narrative, isoVISTism encourages its user to contemplate its presence within the wider landscape and understand its impact on it. The overlapping “natural scenes” are activated by the motion range of the human scale. The mesh of the project itself conveys the users views towards the respective scenes.
isoVISTism has evolved from achieving Narrative Depth as means of creating a sensible space. Societies quantify their growth through the amount of newbuilt power. Projects are seen as weapons and power moves, completely erasing true essence and washing them in superficial terms as “green” and "conscious". In that sense, isoVISTism fights this superficiality and cultivates a sincere educated view on our presence within the broader climate. Inviting the user to experience the space fully through movement and statics, gives the project another level of importance. Nature should be as much experienced as it should be contemplated.
The 10m3 constraint implied a closer attention to the human scale and accessibility. This, combined with the site specifics resulted in a minimal intervention structure that uses site sensitive materials and screw pile foundation elements. Additionally, the outline of the volume provokes a deeper attention to how the space is used. The ramp and the stairs frame the circulation, while the stepped bench and slanted wall delimit the rest and contemplation areas.
The structure is embedded on a rock cliff, with sea waves crashing into the glass screen. The path leading to it becomes part of the narrative, encouraging to acknowledge the setting further than its physical essence.
isoVISTism stands for developing an empathetic ”newbuilt” that resonates and connects nature and humanity in a multiplanar point.
