Project Description
In an era where screens divide us and public spaces often isolate us by age group, Communi-tree emerges as an architectural catalyst for human connection. Placed beside a fruit-bearing tree, this micro-haven is designed for lingering. The concept is to revive the lost ritual of the harvest. Here, elderly citizens become mentors, passing down the tactile wisdom of their youth. Children become explorers, climbing to the upper platform to reach the canopy while the grandparents guide them from below. The tree is no longer just a landscape feature; it becomes the heart of intergenerational dialogue. Communi-tree becomes a space for creating core memories, contributing to gaining the local identity by integrating the people who live close by.
The vertical relationship between the picker and guide embodies how knowledge passes from one generation to the next. Below the stairs, folding chairs wait to be claimed and carried anywhere, transforming a static volume into a fluid space that adapts to its users, and there’s also a miniature bookshelf that holds pre-loved books, inviting stories to be shared between strangers. On the outer side, a vertical garden places smaller fruits at seated and standing height, allowing elders and people with mobility disabilities to harvest with ease, while a low climbing wall invites tiny hands to grip and play. The ground floor remains open and unobstructed, ensuring that those using wheelchairs or walkers can move freely and participate fully in every activity. The structure encourages any age group to use it, being multifunctional it creates a safe emotional atmosphere for everyone to join and bond over the same interests.
Communi-tree is not just a project but a connection between the very young and the very wise. It’s a space not to simply sit, but to participate, teach and grow together. It covers the need of eliminating the screen addiction phenomenon focusing on the narrative depth of connecting people with each other. Communi-tree is a project which aims to emphasize a generational connection encouraging both the elderly and the youngest to participate in shared activities which allow them to create foster bonds. Despite the cubic limitations, it forms a larger space whose purpose is to teach and grow together.
